What is the origin of Orkut?‘Orkut’ is believed to be of Turkish origin and is a common name among men. The person who created the famous online community site www.orkut.com was a Google employee, Orkut Buyukkokten. He reportedly lost his girlfriend in a train accident but believed that she was not dead and that he could find her. Orkut hired developers from across the globe to develop a software to search for her on the web. After spending three years and millions of dollars, he found her. He decided to shut down the site, but the CEO of Google took over the application, though Orkut gets paid for each login!
