USA Guinness World Records: Largest collection of fishing lures

Carterville, Illinois, USA – August 23, 2016 – Fishing enthusiast Will “Spike” Yocum, 12, started collecting Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap fishing lures when he was four and has now amassed a collection larger than 3,500 — thus setting the new world record for the Largest collection of fishing lures.

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest fishing lure had a length of 4.74 m (15 ft 6.72 in), a width of 67.97 cm (2 ft 2.76 in), and a height of 48.77 cm (1 ft 7.2 in), and was created by Ethan Sparks (USA), in West, Texas, USA, on 8 August 2013.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people gutting fish simultaneously; it is 1,000 and was achieved by the people of Santoña, in Cantabria, Spain on 1 May 2011.

Fishing enthusiast Will “Spike” Yocum started collecting Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap fishing lures when he was four and has now amassed a collection larger than 3,500.

Yocum’s grandfather, Fred Washburn, was a Grand Champion Fisherman in 1980 and helped Will start the collection, the WMC-TV reports.

There is no former record holder for the number of Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap lures, but the last recorded figure for a collection of lures was less than a third the size of Will’s.
