Lebanon Guinness World Record: Largest seafood display

Batroun, Lebanon – September 6, 2016 – Batroun city of North Lebanon’s coast has just broken the Guinness World Record for “Largest seafood display,” after showcasing 2,613.8 kilograms of seafood in a market on the city’s port.

A total of 2,613.8 kg seafood were displayed on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, in Batroun, Lebanon, breaking a Guinness World Record for the largest seafood display.

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest seafood display consisted of 2,271.7 kg (5,008 lb) of seafood and was achieved by Schmidt Zeevis and Wichter Steller of Schmidt Zeevis (Netherlands) with the help of the executive Chef Erik Troost of SS Rotterdam and his team on the Lido deck of the SS Rotterdam, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 26 June 2011.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest seafood ceviche; it weighed 9,954 kg (21,945 lbs) and was organized by Aquamar International, in San Francisco de Campeche, Campeche, Mexico, on 4 September 2010.

The world record was previously held by Schmidt Zeevis and Wichter Stellar on the deck of the SS Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2011, where the duo displayed 2,271 kg of seafood.

This is the second time the city of Batroun breaks a world record.

In 2012, Batroun made the largest cup of lemonade, which was beaten out by Calypso Lemonades in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2015.
