The Guinness World Records world record for the largest human flower was made up of 2,297 participants, organised by the Rochester Lilac Festival (USA) at Highland Park in Rochester, New York, USA, on 9 May 2014. The flower, in the shape of a lilac bloom, was created to celebrate the opening day of the annual Lilac Festival.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest flower petal carpet; it is 3,980.84 m² (42,849 ft² 58 in²) and was organised by the Associazione Artistica, Culturale e di Volontariato “Infiorata Città di Aprilia” (Italy) in Aprilia, Italy, on 26 June 2016.

The massive piece of artwork, coined Lotus Live, was organized to honor the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love and created to celebrate “serenity, incorruptibility, and non-violence in the face of adversity,” according to the Asian Art Museum.

“We want to celebrate what makes the Asian Art Museum and the city of San Francisco so special: inclusivity, global consciousness and cultural empathy,” Asian Art Museum Director Jay Xu said in a statement.

“The lotus is a symbol of peace, unity, inclusivity and purity. That’s exactly what Lotus Live achieved today.”
