Armchair Ashtrays

This is a very novel device for placing over armchairs, to be used as ashtrays that will not fall to the floor or carpet. A few pieces of 2 inch wide glove leather that is soft and smooth, cut to 10 inch or 12 inch in lengths. Cut the piece of leather to suit the width of the chair and fringe the edge about 1 inch deep for the artistic effect. A small brass ashtray can then be bolted to the centre of the leather strip, with a flat head on the underside of the leather so that the ashtray will rest without wobbling. Sew two lead weighs into the ends sides of the leather strips, as shown in the illustration, using another piece of leather to make a pocket. Lay the leather strip over the arm of the chair and it will keep in position by the weights at the either ends.
