Lively Scorpion
All sorts of strange experiments can be made with camphor, and here is one that will cause lots of fun and amusement. Obtain a few pieces of hard camphor and exercise some kill in cutting them into small ovals and spheres. When you have a fair supply of these, bore a hole through each with the aid of a stout needle. Thread all the pieces together on very thin wire or cotton, so that you have a groutesque representation of a tiny scorpion.
Place the ugly little fellow on the surface of a bowl of water and let him go through his antics. He will twist and turn, caper about, do all manner of contortions, and never get tired. He has one drawback: he will wear himself out. So, when you have tired of watching him, lift him out of the water and dry his body on a piece of blotting paper. He will have a much longer existence then.
