Papier Mache – Papier Mache is made from paper pulped with paste and is most useful for making very decorative articles.
It is quite simple to produce and this is how it is made. Get a few old newspapers and odd pieces of waste and tear the sheets up into the tiniest fragments and shreds.
Mix these thoroughly with ordinary flour waste until the mixture is rather like clay. Mix it in your hands as you would do putty. The papier mache will dry quite hard and be extremely light in weight.
This is called the bulk papier mache. Another type of papier mache is the “strip” kind. This is made by building up layers of paper strips, pasted together, one on the top of the other, making a very hard board with dry.
