The 2018
Asian Games, officially known as the XVIII ASIAD, is the largest sporting event in Asia governed by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). It is holding at Jakarta and Palembang,
Indonesia between
18 August – 2 September 2018, with 465 events in 40 sports and disciplines set to feature in the Games.

Indian tennis contingent made a winning start to their Asian Games 2018 medal quest after the mixed doubles pair of Divij Sharan and Karman Kaur Thandi won their Round of 32 match at the JSC Tennis Court in Palembang, Indonesia on Sunday. Sharan and Thandi had to overcome a few hiccups to defeat the unheralded Philippines team of Capadocia MJ and Lim AJ 6-4, 6-4. The Indian pair needed 1 hour 21 minutes to notch up the win.
- Wrestling:
A dominating Bajrang Punia was one win away from clinching his maiden Asian Games gold medal but it was all over Sushil Kumar who crashed out of the mega sporting event after losing his first bout.
- Shooting:
Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar bag Bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event to open the medals tally for India on the opening day of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
