Mewar Festival: An exhilarating welcome to spring, this festival is a visual feast with Rajasthani songs, dances, processions, devotional music and firework displays. It is celebrated in the romantic city of Udaipur during the Gangaur Festival. A procession of colorfully attired women carrying the images of the goddess Gauri make their way to the lake Pichola. An unusual procession of boats on the lake offers a fitting finale to this splendid celebration.

Mewar Festival:

The Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur, and has a unique charm about it. The festival of Gangaur is very significant for women of Rajasthan. It is a time for them to dress up in their best clothes and participate in the festival.

They gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city. The procession winds its way to the Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats amidst much singing and festivity.

Once the religious part of the festival is over, it is time for cultural events where Rajasthani culture is portrayed through songs, dances and other programmes. The festival culminates with an impressive fireworks display. Like other fairs and festivals celebrated throughout the state, there is a lot of activity, which keeps the participants in a joyful frame of mind, eager to enjoy every moment.

By Air:

Udaipur city airport is known as the Maharana Pratap Airport or Dabok Airport. It is located at a distance of 22 km from Udaipur. Many domestic airlines connect the city to all major cities of India. Regular flights services are available. From the air terminal regular options of taxis, cabs and buses takes visitors to the city.

By Rail:

Udaipur Railway station is well connected by rail network of India. The railway station is in the heart of the city. From the railway station, the city can be commuted by buses, taxis and cabs.

Udaipur has a developed road connectivity with almost all cities in Rajasthan and India. The frequency of state owned and private buses is frequent and comfortable. Taxis and cabs along with private vehicles ply on the route.
