The curtain rises on the mega cultural bonanza on October 6, which is Le Corbusier’s birthday, with a cake cutting ceremony by VP Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh. The official website of Capitol Complex will also be launched.
Other activities planned throughout the day include a Heritage Walk, which will be from the Rose Garden to the Capitol Complex at 6:30 am. This will be followed by a Treasure Hunt, which will begin at 8 am. Adding to this would be an Art Installation Workshop at 10:30 am at the Open Hand Chandigarh. The concluding event of the day will be the Le Corbusier Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Karan Grover at the Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh at 6:30 pm.
On the remaining days the following events will be organized:
October 7
- Art Installation Workshop at Open Hand Chandigarh from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (also on October 8)
- Folk dances like Barsane ki holi and Charkula from UP, Bhavayi , Kalbelia, Terah Tal and Chari by Rajasthani dancers and more at Plaza from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. ( also on October 8)
- The highlight of the day will be a classical dance spectacle, The Courtesan- An Enigma to be performed by eminent Kathak danseuse Manjari Chaturvedi at Tagore Theatre from 6:30 pm onward.
October 8
- A trilingual Hasya Kavi Samelan with rich literary content by top poets will be held at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh from 3 pm onward. The scene shifts to Plaza for folk dances and a theatrical treat Taak Jhank by Mumbai-based Ham Yatri group at Tagore Theatre from 6:30 pm onward. Acclaimed theatre personality Nitin Jagdish will direct the play.
October 9
- After closing of Art Installation Workshop at Open Hand Chandigarh at 6:00 pm, Sufi singer Arun Faridi and folk singers of Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi will provide grand finale to the mega event with their performance at Plaza-17 at 6 pm. Besides, the showcasing of wall painting murals at General Hospital-16 from 4 pm onward.
