When people say that they see a man’s face on the Moon, they are actually seeing the uneven surface on the Moon. There are deep holes, called craters, and hills on the Moon’s surface. There is no man on the Moon.
That the Moon is much smaller than the stars and even the earth. In fact, four moons put together would make one earth. The Moon looks big because it is much closer to us in comparison to the stars.
That the Moon cannot give out any light on its own. But, its surface can reflect light. It shines because it reflects the light of the sun that falls on it.
That the Moon does not really change shape. We only see it changing shape. The Moon rotates on an axis and revolves around the earth, which in turn moves around the Sun. As a result, only a part of the Moon is exposed to the Sun at a given time and the other side is dark. And, it is the lighted part that we see. So, sometimes we see a whole circle and sometimes we see just a small part of the Moon.
