It serves as a spiritual sequel to both Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan reprise their roles from the previous films, and are joined by Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. It is set in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The film was officially announced in March 2023. Principal photography took place from March to August 2024 in Mumbai, Kolkata, Orchha, and Leh, with cinematography by Manu Anand. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is scheduled for a theatrical release on 1 November 2024, coinciding with Diwali.

The third installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise was officially announced on 1 March 2023, through a teaser released by T-Series. The teaser announcement marked the collaboration of producer Bhushan Kumar, director Anees Bazmee, and actor Kartik Aaryan once again, with Aaryan returning in the lead role as Rooh Baba. Anees Bazmee returns as both the director and writer for the film.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 First Review: The film is all set to hit the big screens on November 1. Kartik Aaryan returns as Rooh Baba to tickle the funny bones and will be joined by Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit as Manjulikas. The hype surrounding the horror comedy is good and is poised for a good opening come Diwali . Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a blockbuster and revived the Bollywood box office after the pandemic lull. The expectations are the same from the upcoming threequel.

Umair Sanshu watched Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 at a censor screening and shared his review of the film on X. He seemed disappointed by Kartik’s performance but was impressed by the duo of Madhuri and Vidya, which he called “paisa vasool”. His overall verdict of the film was average. “#BhoolBhulaiyaa 3 itself is a forced film. There isn’t anything new in the premise to explore and that too with the same main lead.#VidyaBalan & #MadhuriDixit Combo only Paisa Vasool. #KartikAaryan is so irritating. He is Worst Choice for series. Average (sic),” he shared on X.
Kartik says Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is ‘double trouble’
Ahead of the film’s release, Kartik promised that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be “double the trouble and double the fun”. He shared, “Whether it is Rooh Baba or the epic Manjulika’s dance – the audiences have latched onto every aspect of this movie as its staple-need.”
