List of Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winners (1969-2024): The Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, made the first Indian feature film Raja Harishchandra in the year 1913. In his memory, the Government of India introduced the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1969. The 51st Dadasaheb Phalke award was conferred to the legendary actress Rekha.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024: Mithun Chakraborty has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in Indian cinema, which will be presented to him at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024. The announcement was made by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who emphasized Chakraborty’s “remarkable cinematic journey” and his iconic contributions to Indian cinema.
