The makers of “Hum Do Hamare Baraah” on Monday announced that the title of the film has been changed to “Humare Baarah” as per a directive by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Starring Annu Kapoor and Parth Samthaan, the movie will be released in theatres on June 7.
Directed by Kamal Chandra, “Humare Baarah” was initially titled ‘Hum Do Humare Baraah’, has been retitled as per the directive of the Censor Board and will now be known as ‘Humare Baarah’. The movie is set to release on the big screen on June 7th,” the makers said in a statement.
Working on ‘Humare Baraah‘ has been an incredible journey, Kapoor said.
“The film delves into some complex and sensitive topics, and I believe the new title aligns better with our storytelling. I’m excited for audiences to experience the heart and soul of this project on June 7th,” the actor said in a statement.
“The new title reflects the essence of the movie, and I believe it will resonate with viewers,” added Gupta and Bhagat.
According to the makers, the upcoming film also marks the film debut of TV star Parth Samthaan, known for shows such as “Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan” and “Kasautii Zindagii Kay”.
Ashwini Kalsekar, Rahul Bagga, Paritosh Tiwari, Manoj Joshi and Aditi Bhatpahri also round out the cast of the film.

A young woman goes to court against her own father to help her stepmother terminate a very risky pregnancy that could be fatal. Will justice be served?
Review: Mansoor Ali Khan Sanjiri (Annu Kapoor) is a 60-year-old devout Muslim with extreme views about the way women and children in his household should lead their life. He has married multiple times and has fathered as many as eleven children with a twelfth one on its way. However, this pregnancy is extremely risky and can cost his young wife Rukshar (Ishlin Prasad) her life.
But for Khan Saab this risk isn’t even worth considering because as per him children are God’s blessings and aborting a child under any circumstance is blasphemy. Apart from his older son Shahnawaz (Paritosh Tripathi), his entire family is against Khan Saab’s authoritarian ways, but none of them have the courage to stand up against him. Until one day, when his daughter Alfia (Aditi Bhatpahri) musters the courage to approach a fiery woman lawyer Afreen (Ashwini Kalsekar) to get a court order to let Rukshar abort the unborn child.
The first half of the film is spent in setting up the characters and the story underlining the deeply problematic family dynamics within the Sanjiri household. Despite a lot of characters entwined in the narrative, director Kamal Chandra and writer Rajan Agarwal stay on course with the story. Khan Saab’s orthodox and unpopular views and actions drive the narrative forward and it reaches a flash point by intermission, after which, the film becomes a loud courtroom drama. Those sequences verge on repetitiveness, diminishing their impact.
The story squarely portrays Khan Saab as the villain, who despite overwhelming resistance from his family, continues to force his views on them. The man is portrayed as a misguided monster, who will stop at nothing in doing what he believes in, in the name of religion. And actor Annu Kapoor portrays it with a jarring loud tone that gets overbearing quite early on in the film. But his rich urdu dialect is pitch-perfect. Women are reduced to sobbing sorry figures, without agency except Alfia (Aditi Bhatpahri), who plays her part well. The courtroom scenes have some moments of high tension and impact but Chandra chooses loud theatrics over subtle storytelling here. While Ashwini Kalsekar is impressive as the straight-talking prosecutor Aafreen, Manoj Joshi comes across more like a caricature devoid of realism. The half-baked love story between Alfia and journalist Danish (Parth Samthan) is an unnecessary distraction, much like the film’s extremely forgettable music score (by Annu Kapoor). The narrative’s religious undertones sometimes overshadow its broader message.
While the film’s core theme centers around women empowerment and challenges toxic male patriarchy, it often veers into a narrative that feels more like advocacy than entertainment.

The followers of radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan which was founded by the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Indian extremist Mufti Salman Azhari are using social media, particularly Instagram, to threaten the filmmakers with death. Videos depicting brutal beheadings akin to those carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) accompanied by Islamic hymns and verses were shared to warn the artists. These users which are located in Mumbra of Maharashtra’s Thane district and have ties with the Social Democratic Party of India which is the political wing of the outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI).
Muslims are being provoked to take action against Annu Kapoor and other people associated with the movie and ‘show them their place’. Additionally, they have posted videos including Islamic slogans and gun sounds. The movie producer’s phone number has also been made public and the fundamentalists have been threatening to kill him over WhatsApp.
The radicals even posted footage of actual beheadings with ISIS flags and “Allah hu Akbar” to instil fear in the hearts of the cast and crew and warned that the director would meet the same fate if the movie was released. The pictures of the makers of the film have been edited to use in such clips. Cyberattacks have been threatened against Zee Music for the movie trailer. The film producer’s phone number, email address, IP address, MAC address and tower details have all been leaked by these radicals on Instagram. They are disseminating private details in mass to conduct online raids.
What is Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan is an extremist outfit-turned-political party in the Islamic Republic which was founded in August 2015 by the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi who was infamous for dehumanising non-Muslims and even comparing them to faecal matter in his speeches. An ardent fanboy of Mahmud Ghaznavi, he even justified attacks on temples and cheered the desecration of temples and idols.
His religious group is notorious for its violent protests and rioting in Pakistan over perceived slights to Islam or the Prophet Muhammad. He orchestrated large-scale protests in 2017 that resulted in 200 injuries and at least six fatalities. The agitation was organised in response to a minor change to the oath taken by candidates in elections involving a declaration that revolved around Prophet Muhammad. This change was interpreted as benefiting the persecuted Ahmadi sect. The Pakistani administration swiftly reversed its decision, citing a “clerical error,” after sensing outrage from the people. The demonstrations persisted and were only put to an end when the law minister of the time tendered his resignation.
