Ajay Devgn’s upcoming thriller, Shaitaan, dropped its teaser and revealed the first look of R Madhavan‘s devil. Vikas Bahl directed Shaitaan with Jio Studios, Ajay Devgn Ffilms, and Panorama Studios as producers. The movie also stars Jyothika in the lead role alongside Janki Bodiwala, who will make her Bollywood debut through this film. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for Shaitaan. It is scheduled to hit screens on March 8, 2024.

Sharing the teaser, Ajay Devgn wrote, “Woh poochega tumse… ek khel hai, kheloge? Par uske behkaave mein mat aana! (Don’t be tempted when he asks you to play a game)”

Ajay Devgn faces R Madhavan’s sinister character in Shaitaan teaser

On January 25, the makers dropped a teaser sharing glimpses of how bone-chilling the upcoming movie would be. Earlier, the makers had shared a first-look poster that left everyone guessing if R Madhavan plays the titular Shaitaan. The short clip confirmed the actor’s role.

Shaitaan’s teaser opens with a voice-over by R Madhavan, describing how he lures unsuspecting humans. He says (originally in Hindi), “They say the world is deaf. And yet, they follow every word of mine. I am the darkness, and temptation, from sinister prayers to forbidden spells, I rule the nine circles of hell.”

He then adds (originally in Hindi), “I am the poison and cure both. I am a silent witness to everything endured and I am the night, twilight, I am the universe. I create, sustain, destroy, so beware. They say that I spare no one. There’s a game…do you want to play? It has only one rule, no matter what I say, you must not be tempted.”

The short clip also features voodoo dolls and other paraphernalia, hinting that Shaitaan will deal with black magic. R Madhavan’s sinister smile at the end of the teaser leaves Ajay Devgn and Jyothika scared to face him.

The makers are yet to reveal the confirmed plot of the movie, but fans think it could be a Hindi remake of Krishnadev Yagnik’s Vash.

Stay tuned for more updates on Shaitaan.

Movie Review:

Shaitaan Movie Review: The realm of horror and supernatural thrillers has long captivated audiences worldwide, igniting a primal curiosity about the unknown. In the latest cinematic offering, “Shaitaan,” director Vikas Bahl masterfully blends elements of horror, suspense, and family drama, delivering a chilling experience that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

The story follows the seemingly idyllic lives of Kabir (Ajay Devgn), a loving husband and father, his wife Jyoti (Jyothika), and their two children, Janvi (Janaki Bodiwala) and Dhruv (Angad Raaj).

However, their peaceful existence is shattered when a mysterious stranger, Vanraj Kashyap (R Madhavan), enters their lives during a family weekend getaway. Vanraj’s presence unleashes a torrent of unsettling events, as he exerts a sinister influence over Janvi, compelling her to obey his every command.

As the tension mounts, Kabir and Jyoti find themselves trapped in a nightmarish scenario, desperately trying to protect their daughter from Vanraj’s malevolent grip. The film delves into the realms of black magic and vashikaran (control), exploring the depths of human vulnerability and the lengths a family will go to safeguard their loved ones.

Stellar Performances that Haunt the Soul

One of the film’s standout elements is the exceptional performances by the cast. R Madhavan, known for his versatility, takes on the role of the antagonist with remarkable finesse. His portrayal of Vanraj is both chilling and captivating, seamlessly transitioning between a charming demeanor and a menacing presence. Madhavan’s ability to convey a sense of ominous power and control over Janvi is a testament to his acting prowess.

Ajay Devgn, no stranger to intense roles, delivers a powerful performance as the determined and protective father, Kabir. His portrayal of a man pushed to his limits to save his family is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Jyothika, as the concerned mother, Jyoti, brings a raw and authentic portrayal of a woman grappling with fear and helplessness.

However, it is Janaki Bodiwala’s performance as the possessed Janvi that truly steals the show. Her ability to seamlessly transition between innocence, fear, and chilling obedience to Vanraj’s commands is nothing short of remarkable. Bodiwala’s portrayal of a young girl trapped in a nightmarish situation is both haunting and compelling, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

A Masterful Blend of Atmosphere and Suspense

Vikas Bahl’s directorial vision shines through in the film’s atmospheric and suspenseful moments. The use of low lighting, eerie sound design, and haunting cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti creates an unsettling ambiance that permeates throughout the film. Amit Trivedi’s haunting score further amplifies the sense of dread, heightening the tension and keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

Despite its strengths, “Shaitaan” does stumble at times, with occasional narrative missteps and predictable plot points. However, these minor flaws are overshadowed by the film’s overall impact and the masterful performances by the cast.
