Long ago in Egypt the cat was looked on as a god. Temples were built in its honour and anyone killing it was put to death.
When a cat died, it was embalmed and the whole family went into mourning for it. In spite of its exalted past, the Abyssinian, descended from the Sacred Cats of Egypt, is the most friendly and charming of creatures.
Quite fearless and trusting. it will go for walks with its owner just like a dog and, believe it or not, does not mind the rain!
