Cats are good and loving mothers. They will romp and play with their kittens, protecting them from danger and training them to be clean.
A cat will go into a burning building, even at the cost of her own life, to save her kittens, bringing them out in her mouth, one by one, to safety.
Such is the mothering instinct of cats, that many will rear the young of other animals with their own, Puppies, baby rabbits and even baby otters have been cared for by motherly cats.
Tabby cats can be long or short-haired, and red, brown or black and grey. They are said to have come from the Kafir cat of Africa, once tamed and trained for hunting by the people of the Nile.
