Ramzan is a month of prayers, of feasting and charity, a time to contemplate and seek communion with God. The holy month of Ramzan in India began on 29th May based on the visual sighting of the moon. Photographer Arun Sharma spent time circling around the Jama Masjid in Delhi with his fish-eye lens, looking at Ramzan from a different perspective. In Islam, the circle is said to represent the unity of the monotheistic God as well as the city of Mecca. It suggests infinity, a world of eternal peace and harmony.

Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar when the faithful abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and join mass prayers at mosques.

This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is a time when gates of paradise are open, the devil chained and the doors of hell closed.
