Manasi Parekh won National Award for Best Actress in Kutch Express
Actor Manasi Parekh got emotional while taking the Best Actress in a Lead Role award for Kutch Express
Manasi Parekh shared the award with actress Nithya Menen, who won for her role in the romantic drama film Thiruchitrambalam alongside Dhanush. The National Film Awards ceremony took place at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan on October 8, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the accolades.
An emotional Manasi Parekh couldn’t contain her tears as she posed with the coveted trophy, overwhelmed by the recognition for her role as Monghi in Kutch Express. The Viral Shah-directed film also features notable performances from Ratna Pathak Shah, Dharmendra Gohil, Darsheel Safary, and Viraf Patell.
Reflecting on the award’s significance, Manasi shared an emotional Instagram post in August when the announcement was made. She wrote, “I completed 20 years as an actor this year, and 16th August 2024 will be a day etched in my mind forever.” She recalled receiving a congratulatory message from her friend, actor Anand Tiwari, and being in disbelief before the flood of congratulatory messages followed.
Her post read, “I completed 20 years as an actor this year, and 16th August 2024 will be a day etched in my mind forever. My friend @anandntiwari was the first to send me Congratulations on your National award! So proud of you and I literally jumped out of my makeup seat as I was getting ready for the shoot. I couldn’t believe what he said and suddenly my phone was ringing and I was flooded with messages from people and media. I cried. I cried hard and loud. The kind of cry that my character Monghi in #Kutchexpress has when she realizes her whole life has crumbled.”
