The Naughty Hare

Harold HareHarold Hare was naughty
For he damaged farmers’ crops
He found a field of sugar beet
And ate off all the tops.

He went into a lettuce patch
And nibbled at the leaves,
And when it came to harvest time
He burrowed in the sheaves.

One night he found some cabbage
And thought he’d have some fun,
He didn’t know that Farmer John
Was waiting with his gun!

As Harold sat there chewing
A shot gave him a fright,
And leaping very quickly
He went of in the night.

Farmer John was sorry
That he hadn’t caught the hare,
But from that evening onwards
Harold never more went there.
