Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai

Inside this temple, the idol of Siddhivinayak, a form of Lord Ganesha, has been enshrined in a small mandapam. The wooden doors of the sanctum sanctorum depict Ashtavinayak, while the inner ceilings are gilded. The sanctum sanctorum houses the idol of Lord Ganesha, holding a lotus in his upper right hand and Ankush in his left hand and a garland of pearls in his lower right hand and a bowl full of modak laddoos in his left hand. According to legend, once in the king’s dream, Ganapati came and indicated to have his idol in flower form on the banks of river Parvati and asked to install it in the temple. When King Vikramaditya found that flower on the banks of river Parvati, he returned with it when it was night on the way and started resting by keeping the flower there.
