Fastest crossing of the Black Sea by rowing boat

Batumi, Georgia – July 5, 2017 – Atlantic4, a team made of five Romanians (Andrei Rosu, Vasile Osean, Ionut Olteanu, Marius Alexe and Alexandru Dumbrava) arrived at Batumi, Georgia, on June 27, after a 1,200 km, 11-day trip, across the Black Sea in a rowboat, thus setting the new world record for the Fastest crossing of the Black Sea by rowing boat.

The Guinness World Records world record for the fastest transatlantic crossing made completely under solar power is 22 days 12 hr 32 min by MS TÛRANOR PlanetSolar (Switzerland) and its crew of six from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain to Marigot, Saint Martin, from 26 April to 18 May 2013.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest solo and unsupported crossing of the North Atlantic by sea kayak; it was achieved by Peter Bray (UK) in 76 days from 22 June 2001 to 5 September 2001, when he paddled from St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, to Belderrig, Ireland.

Atlantic4, a team made of five Romanians, including famous marathon runner Andrei Rosu, has managed to cross the Black Sea in a rowboat, setting a new world record for speed.

They arrived at Batumi, Georgia, on June 27, after a 11-day trip, reports Sunt-in-forma.ro. They left from Marina Limanu Port in Romania, and traveled 1,200 km.

The main sponsor of this record attempt was Kaufland Romania.

Atlantic4 is the first Romanian team to participate in Atlantic Challenge, the world’s toughest row. Crossing the Black Sea in a rowboat represented an important step in the training for the big challenge – crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
