Photo: Scott Campbell broke a record previously set by Canada’s Jasper Moester for the Fastest Half Marathon Dressed as a Chef, while carrying a 3kg pot. Scott crossed the finish line in 2hrs 3mins, smashing the previous world record by 20 minutes.
The Guinness World Records world record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a fruit is 1 hr 22 min 37 sec, and was achieved by Jim Heal (UK), at the Fleet half marathon in Fleet, Hampshire, UK, on 22 March 2015.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a vegetable; it is 1 hr 24 min 02 sec and was achieved by James Whistler (UK) at the River Thames Half Marathon in London, UK, on 30 October 2016.
He said: “I’ve put in so much effort to achieve this record and I’m really proud that I’ve managed to accomplish what I set out to do,” according to The Great Barr Observer.
Scott added: “Running with the 3kg pan really made things really difficult for me last week. I’ll just be glad to give it back to Balti Spice after they kindly loaned it to me for the event.”
As Scott is a big curry lover, his favourite takeaway – Balti Spice on the Aldridge Road – would like to help everyone celebrate his fantastic achievement.
