Guinness World Records: Largest Key

Doha, Qatar – May 17, 2016 – Qatar set yet another World Record feat for the ‘Largest Key’, which was previously held by Cyprus in 2006; the gigantic key, built by local company Delta Fabco, is dedicated to all the refugees around the world; it exceeds 7m in length and 3m in width, thus setting the new world record for the Largest Key.

The creation of the key took a total of 45 days to complete and was built solely out of steel, organizers said.

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest key is 5.50 metres (18 ft) tall and 2.60 metres (8 ft 6 in) wide and was produced by Georgiou Evagoras (Cyprus). It was presented and measured in Yermasoyia, Limassol, Cyprus on 20 September 2006.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest hotel key card mosaic measures 53.15 m² (572.16 ft²), achieved by the Choice Hotels Owners Council (USA) in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 4 February 2016.

Built in the Industrial Area by local company Delta Fabco, the key exceeds 7m in length and 3m in width, beating a previous Guinness World Records world record set in Cyprus 10 years ago.

The creation of the key took a total of 45 days to complete and was built solely out of steel, organizers said.

According to organizers, the key symbolizes hope for a potential homecoming for displaced Palestinian refugees and other Arabs in the region.
