Photo: On completion, the World’s Largest Fish Patty weighed 296.5 kilograms with a diameter of 122 centimetres (4 feet) and a height of 29 centimetres (11.41 inches).
The Guinness World Records world record for the Largest hamburger patty was set by Loran Green and Friends of Hi Line Promotions; they made a burger of pure Montana beef weighing 2.74 tonnes (6,040 lb) at the Sleeping Buffalo Resort at Saco, Montana on 5 September 1999.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest crab cake; it is 136.08 kg (300 lb) and was created by Handy International Incorporated (USA) in Timonium, Maryland, USA, on 1 September 2012.
Organized by Goa Culinary Forum for Trinity Group, the atempt was made by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao, The Times of India reports.
“On completion, the fish patty weighed 296.5kg with a diameter of 122cm and height of 29cm,” said Joseph Dias, chairman, Trinity Group
The team of 40 culinary professionals were led by executive chefs Prasad Paul (Synergy Hospitality – The Pan Asian Hut), Saurabh Puri (Caravela Beach Resort), Ranjeet Pandey (Holiday Inn), Sunit Sharma (Cidade de Goa), Manjit Singh (Holiday Inn), KS Mahesh (Radisson Blu) and others.
Fish patties are made by mashing the boiled fish pieces along with little boiled and mashed potatoes, spices coated in crumbs and gently fried until golden brown and crispy.
After cutting, chopping, mincing, weighing and mixing the ingredients, the batch was put into the baking vessel with live coal underneath and left to cook on low heat.
The fish patty on completion was distributed to the exhibitors, business visitors and a substantial amount went to charity The Navhind Times reports.
The Sangolda Food Bank team led by Donald, Jason and Sapnesh distributed the fish patty to orphans, destitute and the elderly in 24 institutions around North Goa.
Chairman, Trinity Group, Joseph Dias said: “We have breached all parameters of the record as the requirement was 200 kilograms and similar seafood world records have a diameter of three feet, with a height of around seven inches and weight of 136 kilograms. We have documented almost 12 hours of activity, with the FDA, weights & measurement officers supervising and certifying the effort.”
