France Guinness World Records: Longest Picnic

Laval, France – August 1, 2016 – Hungry supporters of the attempt brought ample quantities of bread, cheese and wine; they managed to stretch out for 2.5 kilometers, beating the 1.7 kilometers previously managed in South Africa and setting the new world record for the Longest picnic.

The Guinness World Records world record for the longest picnic table is 211.82 m (694 ft 11.35 in) and was achieved by Arla Foods Deutschland GmbH (Germany), in Muenster, Germany, on 10 July 2016.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest picnic line; it measures 2, 277 metres (7, 470 ft 4 in) and was organised by the City of Kitchener: as part of the Centennial Celebration of Cityhood in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, on 15 July 2012.

The “slightly crazy” idea was the brainchild of Anne-Marie Amoros, the head of a local radio station who wanted to use the stunt to promote the area.

“It’s an excuse for people to meet, to share an experience,” she said.
