The Guinness World Records world record for the largest pumpkin pie weighs 1,678 kg (3,699 lb) and was made by New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers (USA) at New Bremen Pumpkinfest in New Bremen, Ohio, USA, on 25 September 2010. The diameter of the pie was 6 m (20 ft).
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest potato pie; it weighed 5.37 tonnes (11,858 lb) and was made by the District Municipality of Carmen de la Legua Reynoso and displayed in the main square of Miguel Grau Seminario, Carmen de la Legua Reynoso, Callao, Peru on 16 July 2004.
The strawberry pie was 120 m long and the Chefs Club who created it, along with the contribution of the professionals of the area who provided them with the ingredients of the recipe, claimed a place in the Book of World Records.
The first piece was cut for the Municipality of Pyrgos, as the organizer of the events, and the rest was shared among the attendees, The Greek Reporter reports.
As was mentioned by chefs and professionals, the aim of the preparation of the strawberry pie is to exhibit the local products of Ileia. The initiative for this great celebration, which marked the opening of the gastronomical festival “Pyrgos Feasts 2016,” is attributed to the Municipal Charitable Organization of Pyrgos and its president Charis Antypas, who supported this great effort.
Pirgos is the capital of the prefecture of Ilia. The town owes its name to the presence of a tall tower (pyrgos) erected by loannis Tsernotas (1512-20).
The history of the town is the “history of the raisins: itself. “The raisin issue” was an important one for the area in the first three decades of the country.
