The Guinness World Records world record for the longest journey kite surfing by a team is 1184.86 km (736 miles, 639.36 nautical miles) and was achieved by team Kite The Reef: Phil Barton (UK), Nicholas Cole (Australia), Richard Hatherall (Australia), Nick Levi (Bulgaria), Jesse Richman (USA), Jason Rogers (UK),and Jessica Syne (Australia).
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest distance kitesurfing in 24 hours; it is 645.6 km (401.2 miles) and was achieved by Rimas Kinka (Lithuania), off the coast of Islamorada, Florida, USA, on 26 February 2012.
Known for his adventurous lifestyle and passion for kitesurfing, Branson set the record at four people by kitesurfing, if only briefly, with three other kitesurfers – including champion kiteboarder Susi Mai, who suggested the challenge in the first place.
