The Guinness World Records world record for the longest line of sandwiches is 3,865.78 metres (12,679.72 feet) and was achieved by Nocilla (Spain) in Barcelona, Spain, on 1 June 2013. The sandwiches was filled with Nocilla chocolate and hazelnut spread and hazelnuts. The average length of the sandwich was 50cm and there were 7790 sandwiches in total.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most sandwiches made in one hour; it is 39,303 and was achieved by Winsight and Which Wich (both USA) at the Gaylord Texan Resort, Grapevine, Texas, USA, on 21 June 2016.
The sandwich total easily exceeded both the record and the stated goal of 40,000 PB&Js.
The sandwiches were to be donated to 15 food banks in the region. Supplies on hand for the effort included 4,475 pounds of peanut butter, 3,800 pounds of jelly and 1,875 loaves of bread.
The record attempt was organized by Temple’s student-run Main Campus Program Board.
The previous Guinness world record was just a few months old, set in June in Grapevine, Texas by Which Wich’s Project PBJ.
