Photo: Hosted by the Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC), as part of their COVER magazine’s Pret-A-Cover Fashion Week (PACFW), the non-conventional virtual runway is celebrating the cuts and patterns of modest clothing by talented designers from around the world.
The Guinness World Records world record for the Longest running women’s magazine (publication) was set by The People’s Friend, the longest running women’s magazine, having been first published in 1869. The magazine celebrates its 140th anniversary in January 2009.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest magazine; it measures 190 cm x 270 cm (6 ft 2 in x 8 ft 10 in) and was achieved by Veronica Magazine (Netherlands). It was presented and measured in Hilversum, the Netherlands, on 31 October 2011.
Billed as the world’s first virtual fashion week, Pret-A-Cover Fashion Week aims to provide a platform for designers to get discovered from anywhere on the planet.
The concept is an extension of the IFDC’s PretA-Cover programme to build dedicated modest-wear sections within stores, and is hosted by the council’s online Cover magazine.
“The Pret-A-Cover program will be a game-changer and will lead to more modest wear sections within stores, great designers getting discovered, more growth of the modest fashion industry and simply more equal opportunities,” Mvslim reports.
The magazine’s already highly engaging features and articles will be expanded with shopping tips and product advice.
As well as showcasing designers’ work, PACFW hosts virtual and interactive panel discussions with leading names in the modern fashion segment. It also carries reviews of designers’ collections by luxury online retailer Farfetch.
